Talc
stone or 'Jade wood' comes from Western Australia and is used in cosmetics.
The grade-outs are cut into blanks for turners and carvers.
With an appearance similar to marble, talc stone cuts with extreme
ease under a band saw, and normal wood turning tools can be used on
it without fear of blunting them.
Using a lacquer to seal the stone, a highly polished finish is achieved
which brings out the characteristic blue-grey swirl pattern.
