When
storing hardwood flooring, ensure that packs lie flat in
a dry area.
Boards / packs should never be stored on end and must be
raised off the floor.
Heating should be switched on with the building / room at
normal operating temperature / humidity levels (i.e. 65
- 70°F and 45-65% relative humidity).
Always
ensure that site conditions are suitable to accept hardwood
flooring:
i)
All wet work must be completed.
ii) Unfinished flooring must be left to acclimatise on site
for as long as possible.
iii) Pre-finished flooring must be used directly from unopened
packs (loose boards should not be used).
Barrier
matting should be provided at all external entrances.
Check
doorways and heavy traffic areas regularly for signs of
wear.
A dulling of the surface and a grey appearance will usually
indicate this.
At this stage it is necessary to apply a maintenance coat
of sealer.
Do
not lay wood floors in wet areas (showers, bathrooms etc.)
Sweep
/ vacuum floors frequently to remove dirt, grit and other
abrasive materials from the surface.
Wood
is very resilient, less tiring on the feet, than more unyielding
materials. It has excellent thermal insulation properties;
wood is warm to the touch.
Wood
floors can be renovated with comparative ease after wear
or neglect.
Wood floors do not tire, on the contraryproperly cared
for, they will mature. Wood floors can be easily maintained
and kept in good condition indefinitely.
